The Seward Rotary Club, a co-sponsor in the recent completion of the new William Henry Seward Plaza on the Seward County Courthouse Square, received the Outstanding Community Service Award at the recent Rotary District 5650 Conference in Nebraska City on July 27 th at the District Awards Ceremonies. The award was presented by District Governor Julie O’Hara.
 
The Seward Rotary Club, a co-sponsor in the recent completion of the new William Henry Seward Plaza on the Seward County Courthouse Square, received the Outstanding Community Service Award at the recent Rotary District 5650 Conference in Nebraska City on July 27 th at the District Awards Ceremonies. The award was presented by District Governor Julie O’Hara.

The top award was presented in recognition of the work of the immediate past Rotary Club year of 2019-2020- for their works towards the completion of the new Seward Plaza on the Courthouse lawn. The Rotary Club not only donated funds for the plaza but sorted and cleaned the pavers for the walkway and assisted in the placement of the new bronze Seward Statue. Also, Rotarian Jon and Bonnie Kruse served as key initiation and leadership roles in the plaza project, formally dedicated in June of 2020. Accepting the award for the club, as the official delegates to the Conference were Rotarian and Past President of the Seward Rotary Club-Jon Kruse and his wife, also a member of the Seward Rotary Club.
 
The Seward Rotary Club is a member of Rotary International – a community service organization, based on the motto of “Service Above Self” and promoting World Peace and Understanding worldwide. There are over 35,000 Rotary Clubs worldwide with over one million members in service to others. Rotary serves with local, district and international projects. The Seward Rotary Club is celebrating their 94th anniversary year-founded in Seward in 1925 and meets every Wednesday at noon at the Jones National Bank Auditorium.
