The membership of the Seward Rotary Club donated hundreds of supplies for the Rotary International District 5655 Service Project at the District 5655 Conference, creating “New Beginning Bags” for the Magdelene/ Omaha/Thistle Lights programs.  The bags were created to provide three days of much needed personal supplies for victims of sex trafficking/prostitution, abuse and addiction.

During the District Conference, "Rotary: Making a Difference", on Friday, July 27th, the conference attendees put together 400 bags for Magdelene Omaha/Thistle Lights. The Magdalene Omaha/Thistle Lights is a survivor-led program of healing, recovery, and economic empowerment for women who experienced sex trafficking/prostitution, abuse, and addiction.  (www.magadeleneomaha.org

Rotary Clubs from across the District of Rotary in Nebraska and Iowa were asked to donate a variety of supplies to assist the women who experienced sex trafficking and other related crimes.

Rotary Clubs and Members donated items and money to purchase these items such as toiletries -- shampoos, conditioners and other related items.  Members were also asked to donate writing supplies, and other items to assist with the victim’s daily needs.

The local Seward Rotary collected articles for four weeks prior to the District Conference, boxed up the products and delivered them to the District Conference in Lincoln, where the products were sorted and distributed into over 400 bags!  Seward Memorial Health Care led the product campaign for the Seward Rotary donating products for each of the bags.
