The Seward Rotary Club, a co-sponsor in the recent completion of the new William Henry Seward Plaza on the Seward County Courthouse Square, received the Outstanding Community Service Award at the recent Rotary District 5650 Conference in Nebraska City on July 27 th at the District Awards Ceremonies. The award was presented by District Governor Julie O’Hara.
 

Allison Sommerfeld, Officer with the Seward Police Department shared information on the D.A.R.E. program at the Seward Rotary Club meeting on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the Jones Bank auditorium.

 

Chief Baldwin, program chair, introduced Allison sharing the areas of expertise that she brings to the Seward Police Department with Investigations, Evidence Management, Officer Training, the D.A.R.E. program and the ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) Task Force.

Sarah Kudlacek was the winning draw in the recent Seward Rotary Club’s annual “Grocery Grab” held at the Seward Pac N Save on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 1:00 pm. The contest was sponsored by the Seward Rotary Club to raise funds for new playground equipment for the new Seward Rotary Club’s Armory Park located behind the new Nebraska National Guard Museum in their new outdoor complex. The funds raised were matched by the Rotary International Foundation in a special community grant program.

The District Governor, Richard “Dick” Galusha of the Omaha Northeast Rotary Club and official representative of the local Rotary District 5650, recently attended the meeting of the Seward Rotary Club in Seward. The District Governor is required to make one “official” visit to each of the club’s in the District each year. He met with the Seward Rotary Club Board before the meeting and met with the club during their regular meeting time on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at noon at the Jones National Bank and Trust in Seward. He addressed the club on the subject “My Rotary Journey” and shared information concerning the happenings of Rotary on a District and International level. He was accompanied by his wife, Pat Galusha. The Seward Rotary presented him with a bag of mementos from the Seward Club and area.
